Put your own bio in front of you. Somewhere in it are the words trusted, fiduciary, holistic, your goals first. They were meant to reassure. Instead they are wallpaper, because every advisor in the category says them, so the reader's eye slides right off before you have earned a second of attention.
This is the surface of a deeper sameness. Underneath the shared words sits a shared character, the wise expert who leads with what they know, the part nearly half the field plays. The words are how you can hear the character. Here is the test. The left column is burned: the terms are so universally claimed they now carry no information. The right column is alive for the opposite reason: almost no one in the category will say those words out loud, so they still land.
Burned
trusted · fiduciary · your goals first · holistic · comprehensive · personalized · peace of mind · partner · tailored · boutique · we listen · goals-based
Still open
enough · freedom · the number · legacy · regret · fear · mortality · generosity · what it's for · the hard truth · when to stop · the weight of it
Now the exercise. Every word your bio shares with the left column is a word doing no work, struck through in the reader's mind before you have earned a hearing. Then borrow from the right. One sentence a client has never heard from an advisor is worth more than a paragraph they have heard from all of them.
But be careful what the right column actually is. It is not just a better subject. Those words are the fingerprint of a different character, the one who works the feeling of money instead of explaining the mechanics of it. Swap the vocabulary and you have changed nothing if the person underneath is still the same Sage. The full language audit, the character map behind it and the read that finds which character is yours are in the Wealth Management report.
